Road Trips

I’m driving across the big old USA (while the gas is still ‘cheap’). Roadtrips are like bookmarks…’remember that roadtrip to…?’

Last night on the drive from Oakland to Reno I recalled that this is my seventh cross country roadtrip. Four were US tours, one in 1999 with Val (Ramona the Pest) and in 2001 with Pat Spurgeon (A Reverend, A Phantom and a Junkie Tour). The others were basic travel from East coast to West Coast – one a ‘drive away’ with my friend, the author Erik Eskilsen in 1995 (where we drove a person’s car across for them).

So, the next twelve days will serve multiple purposes – a photography expedition (which I will post photos from), a chance to visit friends and basic transportation for my two month residency on the east coast for June and July.

I’m shooting black and white analog and color digital. This photo is from Reno, 7am. My attempt at some Henry Wessel. Next stop – Salt Lake.
