Rocked out at Freddy’s in Brooklyn with my friend, Alice Bierhorst on drums. We did some of my nutty songs and quite off the cuff. It was one for the gods, as the only other folk there at 8pm on a Tuesday night were Alice’s husband, Rob Price and bandmate, Pete Galub, who would be following at 9pm.
Freddy’s is a dive bar. Freddy’s wins ‘Best Dive Bar’ awards and such. The plaques assault you as you walk in the door (do real dives advertise?). Anyway, we dispensed with the instrumental and experimental ideas and played some dive bar music - as in flat duo rock ‘n’ roll. Fairly lowbrow stuff, delivered with vim, vigor and sweat. Felt pretty darn good.
