NYC Art Day

First stop was to the MOMA to catch the Van Gogh, Colors of the Night exhibit with my sister Lisa. It was great, but of course crowded. A surprise delight was the Looking at Music exhibit, which displayed modern music gems such as John Cage and Steve Reich scores, a Laurie Anderson violin piece and some great videos, most notably, DEVO’s simply damaged video from 1974, Secret Agent Man. What was going on in 1974, Ohio…

And The Residents amazingly cool 1975 stop action piece, The Third Reich ‘n’ Roll,

Then it was onto lunch w/ my musical comrade Rob Price at The Blind Tiger Alehouse in the West Village where I tasted an incredible brown ale, but can’t recall the name…

And just up the street from the BT was the latest Banksy sensation, Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill. The leopard had me fooled. Great stuff.

The final and most rewarding stop was Joseph Koudelka’s, Invasion Prague 68 photos at the Aperature Foundation Gallery. Really big prints of amazing shots taken during the week the Soviets rolled into the fair city of Prague to crush any ideas the Czech’s might have about making changes.
