Downtown Oakland went bat-shit last night. Everywhere, the sound of multiple cars horns ricocheted around tall buildings, people danced, high-five’d, hugged, kissed and blocked the streets (despite the OPD ten-car phalanx attempt to break it up), with black and white seeking each other out – beautiful stuff and alot of fun.
Earlier in the evening at the Out of the Box election night show curated by Carla Kihlstedt and Matthias Bossi at the Uptown Lounge, the power rock improv trio of myself, Pat Spurgeon and Morgan Guberman were raging along onstage just around 8pm when the call was made for Obama on the screen behind us. It was nutty.
Feels good to finally be on the winning side, eh? The man is a gem, may his Presidency also be.
