…played the ‘Free Country Music Sundays’ at SF’s Thee Parkside with Val Esway & El Mirage this past, well Sunday. It was really nice. Afternoon gig, good crowd – laid back fun – it’s not always crazy improv noise around here!
Had one of the special $5 pulled pork sandwiches that Matt ‘there’s Budweiser in the sauce’ cooks up special, then got up on stage and was happy to deliver some vintage telecaster tone. El Mirage played a good set and since Thee Parkside is a dog friendly place, my sweet little dog, Spider was along and she lay down onstage with us for a spell. I’m sure she was working the crowd for garlic fries the rest of the time.
Gayle Lynn and the Hired Hands followed our set with a nice brand of western swing influenced tunes. Great players in the band, including the always entertaining Mike Roper and Rik Elswit from Dr. Hook. It was a right nice post-gig hang. Highly recommended.
