Dark Art

Two projects are finished just before the bell of the coming summer is rung and I couldn’t be more pleased. They are both beautifully dark pieces of work, a perfect juxtaposition to the gorgeous sunshine, which is in perfect juxtaposition to the economic realities that are in juxtaposition with the recent Wall Street running of the bulls.

sonic-demons-coverThe first is a brand new CD. Sonic Demons is a dark sonic tale for dark times with a storyline that follows the plight of a broken down Lucifer, an over-eager Alchemist, a Faustian bargain, a fantastical steam-punk miracle machine, a deadly molecule, a scheming Vulcan and the very heavy Saturn.

Sonic Demons features Lucio’s signature guitar and electronic sounds in solo and collaborative compositions and improvisations with Jon Brumit, Wayne Grim, Suki O’Kane, Jeff Hobbs, Jonathan Segel (Camper Van Beethoven), Laurie Amat (The Residents), David Grollman, Rob Price and Valerie Kuehne. Sonic Demons will be released by Rent Romus’ Edgetone Records on June 23rd.

The second is the completion of the HD digital version of the 2003 experimental 16mm film & performance piece, NightSoil. Originally created as a group collaboration with Thad Povey, Al Alvarez and Mark De Gli Antoni, it now features stunning hi definition visuals and an awesome new soundtrack (with some fantastic musical contributions by Jenya Chernoff, Suki O’Kane, John Hanes, Jonathan Segel, Laurie Amat and Rebecca Seeman), some of which you can hear on the Kingtone site.
